Get it switched to generic Zyban (bupropion). Bupropion is almost always covered because it has two indications: depression and smoking cessation. It is not as good as Chantix, but still much better than everything else.
Most insurances do pay for Chantix or require a prior authorization.
References :
pharmacist

Sometimes things just don't make sense. I agree that it's silly for health insurance not to pay for this drug. I must say though that here are better methods for quitting smoking. Hypnosis is the best method and has the highest percentage of people that quit permanently.http://smoking.ygoy.com/2009/02/18/hypnosis-to-quit-smoking/http://www.quit-stop-smoking-hypnosis.com/
References :
http://www.quit-stop-smoking-hypnosis.com/

Health insurance companies are part of the exclusive club of the corporate oligarchy and to do so would hurt their profits from tobacco sales.
References :
from the commit website:

Are there any side effects to taking the Commit® stop-smoking lozenge?
Commit is not candy. If you consume the stop-smoking lozenge too fast or chew and swallow all or part of it, you may experience heartburn or indigestion. If you experience any side effects, you should discontinue use and consult your doctor.

The side effects seen in users are generally moderate and transient. The most common side effects are insomnia (reported in less than 5% of users), nausea, hiccups, coughing, heartburn, headache and flatulence.

When you think about it, its like chewing gum, or eating to fast when you're using these lozenges daily, so air can get trapped and your body releases it through flatulence and burping. So this seems a normal but irritating side effect. I say keep it up, dont go back to smoking...GOOD LUCK!
References :
Has anyone who's used Commit lozenges to quit smoking had a problem with flatulence? I can't stop farting.
This is no joke. I've been on these things for 4 days now, not smoking at all!! I'm farting about 5 times an hour, and loudly, not little SBD's. I don't know if I should go back to smoking or just keep farting until I'm an ex smoker.

quitting smoking is never easy, and there are dozens of ways to quit but the only true way to quit I think coming from someone who has smoked is to be determined to quit truly want to and think about if you had a chance to look at your lungs would you really quit, I would think so think of the money you would save and the years added on to your life and good luck I hope you succeed.
References :
I just quit and quit and quit and quit until one time it worked. I wouldn't buy a carton of cigarettes. I'd buy a pack and quit after I finished it. In other words, I got into the habit of quitting twice a day. It only has to work once, and it did. After two weeks I never wanted another cicarette. That was thirty years ago.
References :
My nephew had good luck stopping with the patch. I've also heard that hypnotism works well.
good luck...
